
IIMT College of Pharmacy Greater Noida organised a Tobacco
Awareness Programme in association with District Tobacco
Control Board under National Tobacco Control Programme on 9th
October, 2018 at the college Seminar Hall. Our Chief Guest Dr Amit Vikram,
Additional CMO G.B.Nagar and Honorable M.D. Shri Mayank Aggarwal inaugurated
the program with the lamp lightning ceremony Dr. Sumedha Kushwaha, Founder and
General Secretary ATTAC Society and Dr. Munisha Coordinator ATTAC were the Guest
of honour.
Addressing the Students Dr. Amit Vikram reminded the
students that Tobacco is the biggest cause of preventable deaths in the world
today and the youths are in majority to Tobacco addiction. He sensitized the
students on Tobacco addiction, diseases caused by it and measures to be taken
to curb this menace. He also encouraged the Director to take the initiative
& necessary measures in making the institution a Tobacco-free Campus.
Booklets and fliers were distributed to all the students.
Dr. Sumedha Kushwaha is a practicing anti
tobacco specialist an important part of his job profile is spreading the
awareness of cancer among the students. The program was attended by the 200
students of Dept of Pharmacy and Dept of Engineering. The speaker elaborated on
the reasons, prevention and control. The discussion was informative and students
actively participated. The discussion ended with the extension of tobacco use
to drug addiction.
