Recently the Government of West Bengal has started a new scheme for the students of West Bengal known as Student Credit Card Scheme which will help them to pursue education without any financial problems.
In this Scheme any student who belongs to West Bengal can get an education loan of maximum Rs. 10 lakhs @ 4% per annum simple interest from any of the State Cooperative Bank and also its affiliated Central Cooperative Banks and
District Central Cooperative Banks and Public/ Private Sector Banks. As per this scheme a rebate in interest of 1% will be given to the student if he/she pays full interest during the study period. The loan has to be repaid within 15 years under this Credit Card which includes the moratorium/ repayment holiday and at the time of applying for loan the student’s upper age limit is 40 years.
Students who are interested may submit their applications online to avail this scheme through the official website of west Bengal i.e https://wbscc.wb.gov.in/

- Aadhar card
- Residence certificate
- Mobile number
- Passport size photograph
- Age proof
- Ration card
- Income certificate
- Bank account details
Eligibility Conditions :
- As per the scheme the needy students of West Bengal only can avail it.
- The Scheme is open only for education and not at all for other things.
- As per this scheme loans will be provided to all those students only who are above class 10.
- The loan can be repaid after15 years once the student joins the job.
- The loan availed can be used for institutional and non-institutional expenses.
- A simple interest of 4% is charged for the loan.
- By using this scheme students can avail a maximum of Rs 10 lakhs loan.
- The upper age limit of the student availing the loan facility is 40 years.
- As per this scheme the loan may be availed for national-level competitive exams.
- The students will have the option to extend the loan for exams like IITs, IIMs, NLUs, IAS, IPS, WBPS.
Once the application for this Scheme gets accepted then the student will get a credit card by the government to avail the loan facility.
Required Process to get West Bengal Student Credit Card:
- First, the student needs to go to the official website of the West Bengal student credit card scheme
- Its home page gets opened
- Then on this homepage, the student is required to click on Student Registration
- So registration gets opened
- After that fill the below mentioned details in the registration form :
- Applicant name
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Aadhar number
- Program type
- Program name
- State of institution
- District of institution
- Name of institution
- Mobile number
- Email ID
- Password etc
- After that click on the register
- Then unique ID will be generated which will be sent to the registered mobile number of student
- It will be used as a user ID for all future purposes.
Login Procedure:
- Now for login the student is required to click on the student login
- Then enter the application ID, password, and captcha code
- After that click on the login
- Then Applicant dashboard will come
- Here click on the application detail
- Then click on the edit loan application
- The application form will be appeared
- Then enter the following details in this application form
- Personal details
- Co borrower details
- Present address details
- Permanent address details
- Course and income details
- Bank details of the student
- Now you have to click on save and continue
- After that, you have to upload the following documents
- Latest colour photograph of the student
- Latest colour photograph of the co-applicant
- Signature of the student as specified
- Co borrower address proof
- Signature of the overawe legal guardian
- Student’s Aadhar card
- Students PAN card or undertaking as specified
- Co borrower PAN card or undertaking as specified
- Admission receipt of the institution
- Class 10th board registration certificate
- After that click on save and continue
- So a new page will come
- Then click on the submit application
- As a result a dialogue box will appear asking for confirmation whether the student wants to submit or not
- Then click on yes.
By properly following the above mentioned steps the students can apply successfully under the West Bengal student credit card scheme.
